Evaluation -Question 7 :)

7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

- In the Preliminary task we forgot to check if the mic was on and so after filming all our footage and came back to watch over, there wasn't any sound and so we had to re-do it all.

- When we came to filming for the real task we kept checking the mic to make sure it was working. We tested it before we filmed to make sure the sound was alright.

- In the preliminary task we used match on action (walk through door)
- In the real task we used this in parts of our opening sequence.

- In the preliminary we used shot reverse shot for the first time.
- In the real task, we used this technique during the conversation between Nicky and Ryan

-In the preliminary we had to move audio and sync it back into place.
-In the real task we used this when inputting the sound/audio track over the scene where Nicky starts miming to the song.

- In the preliminary task we had a two shot when Charlotte and Nicky are talking.
- We used this in the real task when Nicky and her little sister had a conversation.

-Finally, in the preliminary we used an establishing shot to open the scene.

-In the real task, we didn't use an establishing shot as we felt straight to then action would attract the audience.

Evaluation -Question 6 :)

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

- The programs we used on the mac were: iMovie, Soundtrack Pro, Final cut Pro, and Photoshop. The things we learnt during the making of our opening sequence was inserting titles into Final cut Pro, how to make effective logos (for our studio and production name) and to add music/sound effects to our footage. Finally, we learnt how to insert transitions into the sequence.

- We also learnt not to rely on technology too much as it can go faulty, we lost out footage once due to the computer loosing the data.

- Our experience with the programmes were limited and so we weren't able to create our ideas the way we would have liked them.

Evaluation -Question 5 :)

5. How did you attract/ address your audience?

- We made the character a relation to the target audience.
- Used humor and romance to entice a wide audience.
- Having an enigma on the realtionship, 'Will they get together/won't they?'

Feedback for rough-cut.
"Need to add audio and balance it out."
RESPONSE
-added audio for final cut, rough cut was just to get scenes in order.

"Some scenes were confussing".
RESPONSE
-cut the scenes that weren't needed or crucial to the story.

"Some good continuity with editing".
RESPONSE
-although it work we refined the transitions for final cut.

Feedback from final-cut.
"Really liked the studio and production titles".
RESPONSE
-we thought our studio and production titles were better animated compared to out old still image logo's.

"Audio goes too loud and cracks when the main character is dancing".
RESPONSE
-we tried to make the audio appear diagetic and thought the loudness would indicate how teenagers are always blasting their music in their rooms. Almost the audience experiences what the family would experience.

"Audio seems unbalanced at times".
RESPONSE
-unfortunately, our footage had some people behind camera talking or other distracting sounds so we had to cut them. I would have liked to have found an audio track which had 'house like sounds' but none were found.

"Not sure why you chose to use Taylor Swift - you belong with me".
RESPONSE
-Taylor Swift has touched the hearts of many young teenagers as her songs are all about finding and loosing love. We thought this fits perfectly with our film.

"Got a good impression of what the film will be about me".
RESPONSE
-this is good as we used as much conventions as we could to make it clear what genre it was.

Evaluation -Question 4 :)

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

Certificate

- 12A. Why? We feel its the appropriate age group for a young/teenage romantic comedy. Our film doesn't include any swearing, violence or sexual content, and the main characters are around the same age as our target audience (around 10-18).

- At this age meaningful relationships are starting to appear.

- Although 12A it would also be a good 'family film'.

Evaluation -Question 3 :)

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media and why?

Film Company

- Paramount Pictures
- Why? They distribute similar films to our film, such as 'Mean Girls' and 'Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging'. These films relate well as they both
involve a love story and has a humorous story line.
The film genre (rom-com) is popular so we think it would generate a lot of profit as the company is one of the main studio names to distribute films.

Evaluation - Question 1 :)

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Enigmatic narrative.
- Questions their relationship 'Will they end up together?' 'How will they end up together?'
- We left the ending of our opening sequence on a cliff hanger - not knowing what will happen.

Conventions
- Humor, Romance, Childish, Identity, Drama.

- We've shown the conventions by:
The main character singing and dancing to a song.
Using a tomatoe as pay-back.

For a typical romantic comedy the love story progresses from a hatred between the two characters. This relationship gets turned around and they end up together in the end.
Opening Titles
We looked at conventions of opening titles.
- Typography reflects genre.
- Audio track reflects genre.
- Indroduction of characters.
- Studio/Production logo's.
